Link
Building Tactics
Linking tactics are really what this site is all about -
what works and what doesn't.

It's worth defining exactly what we want the links for
before carrying on with the rest of the discussion. Basically
links have two purposes:
- To boost search engine rankings
- To provide people a direct link to click on and arrive
at our website
Basically with respect to the second purpose, almost any
link is a good link, so we're going to focus the dicussion on
the first purpose.
Getting Good Search Engine Rankings
The best way to think of this is simply ... keep it
natural.
One message the search engines consistently send is that
natural, organic behaviour in websites wins the rankings.
To that end, lets discuss some different linking tactics
people have used, and are still using.
Linkfarms
Very bad idea. These are websites that are just big
collections of outgoing links. No useful content.
They will offer to sell you links, usually for a small fee
per link, but this can add up.
Short answer: don't bother - they're a waste of your
time and money.

Reciprocal Linking
As I've said before, I don't think this actually hurts your
rankings, but it's certainly not the best way to get incoming
links.
If you can do it without any time input, then maybe it's
worth it, as long as it's not the only form of link building
you use.
Personally, I don't bother with it.
Three Way Linking
This is better than reciprocal linking, but still not the
best. It does offer some benefits though, and if you can
do it automatically, it's probably worth adding to your
strategy, again, as long as it's not your main source of
links.
It works by you adding a link to website A, website A
linking to website B, and website B linking back to you.
Again, it's artificial, so it probably helps, but it's not
the best.
Article Marketing
It works - definitely it works. The content is
relevent, the links are relevent, and the search engines lap it
up.
The only downside?
It can take some considerable time or money, to write all
those articles and then post them to all the article
directories.
It's more effective than all the others listed above, but it
does take work (or money).
The Method I Recommend Most
This is essentially like article marketing, in that it's all
high quality content based, relevent links.
But it's better in one essential way...
It's super, dooper, could-not-be-simpler EASY!
I won't say any more, just take a look by clicking the
